Rebates will be given as checks and not as credit on the water bill, unless the water accounts are not current. If the water account is not current, the rebate may be denied or given as a credit towards the water account.

ITEM 6. SECOND ROUND OF WORKSHOPS ON EXPANDED BUS AND RAIL

Board of Commissioners Friday Update
Friday, August 20, 2010
ITEM 1. ALFORD AUCTION
Alford Auction will hold their second sale on Saturday at 2 p.m. The auction house is located at the corner of Fourth and Cypress streets. Snacks should be available during the sale but if visitors want more substantial food, please encourage them to visit one of the nearby local eateries. El Cerro Mexican Restaurant, Trans Mini Mart (snack bar featuring items from sandwiches to seafood), Aubrey’s (until 2 p.m.) and Teddy’s Pizza are all within walking distance of the auction house. Some of the items up for auction this week can be found by visiting this website (
http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/auctionview.cgi?lid=922627&kwd=&zip=27591&category=0) and clicking on view photo gallery.
ITEM 2. DOWNTOWN IMPROVEMENTS
Downtown pedestrian improvements continue along Main Street. The existing
asphalt and concrete where the new crosswalk will be installed on Main Street,
the south of Third, has been removed. The stone will be delivered, base tested and
rebar installed on Friday, August 20. The concrete will be poured in two phases
beginning on Monday, August 23 and the second pour will be on Tuesday,
followed by stamping, weather permitting. Because of the depth of the concrete,
it will require a week to cure and Main Street should reopen on Tuesday, August
31. Once completed, work on the last of the four concrete crosswalks will begin.
The electrical contractors will be turning the corner on Monday, August 23 from
E. Third Street to the east side of Main Street between Third Street and the
railroad. This will require trenching and the installation of conduit for the
pedestrian street lights and receptacles.
The trees in Phase I will be removed on Friday 27, and Saturday 28. The trees will
be cut Friday evening and the root balls will be excavated on Saturday evening.
The work is planned in the evenings in an effort to disturb the downtown
merchants as little as possible.
Staff would like to thank the merchants for their patience during construction.
It has been very hot and merchants have offered workers water and invited them
into their businesses during breaks. On numerous occasions, workers have
mentioned the hospitality they have been shown along Main Street.
ITEM 3. PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT
The Chamber has announced the Photography Exhibit of Cindy Privette at the Chamber Board room. Her work can be seen from August 19th to October 5th, 2010. Her contact number is 919-269-8359. Chamber hours Monday to Friday from 11 am to 4pm.

Only WaterSense labeled toilets are eligible of a rebate because these toilets are independently certified to be High Efficiency Toilets, using 20% less than the current federal standard of 1.6 gallons/flush, and they have a high flushing performance.
The toilet rebate amount is determined by the cost of the toilet, tax included, with a maximum rebate of $100 per toilet. Rebates will be given as checks and not as credit on the water bill, unless the water accounts are not current. If the water account is not current, the rebate may be denied or given as a credit towards the water account.
For verification of eligibility, and statistical and monitoring purposes, each applicant is required to provide the measurements of the old toilet's tank. THESE MEASUREMENTS MUST BE RECORDED ON THE APPLICATION!
Lift the tank lid and take these three measurements, in inches, from inside the tank.
Length (inside the tank, left to right).
Width (inside the tank, front to back)
Depth of the water level = amount of water sued form one flush. If all the water is emptied form the tank in one flush then measure from the bottom of the tank to the water line. If not, calculate the change in water levels before and after one flush.
You may determine your old toilet's volume of gallons per flush (GPF) with the following equation:
Gallons per Flush = (Length x Width x Water Depth)/231
