WakeUP Annual Meeting next MONDAY, Jan. 24
Wake School issues receive national press attention
Dear Friends,

Wake County school issues continue to spark national attention, recently from the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and political satirist Steven Colbert.  What can we expect our schools to look like in the future and how can we ensure that every child in Wake County has access to the highest quality education possible?  Wake schools concerns and other critical local issues will be addressed atThe 2011 Outlook: WakeUP Wake County's Annual Meeting - please attend!  See below for more information:
The 2011 Outlook: WakeUP Wake County Annual Meeting
January 24, 2011, 7:00-8:45 pm
3313 Wade Ave, Raleigh
Come get the inside scoop from Wake elected officials on what actions to expect in 2011 at the NC General Assembly, Wake County Commission and Wake School Board, at WakeUP Wake County's 2011 Annual Meeting.  Speakers, including Senator Neal Hunt, Representative Jennifer Weiss, County Commissioner Joe Bryan, and School Board Member Keith Sutton, will share their views on the outlook on such issues as the budget, schools, transit referendum and Falls Lake.

Paul Morris, urban planner with Greenleaf Strategies, will present an exciting long-range vision for growth and public transit planning for the Triangle Region and Wake County.  How should we develop and make smart land use transportation decisions now to plan for future growth?

WakeUP will review highlights from 2010, elect its 2011 Board of Directors, and present WakeUP Leadership Awards to local leaders  who have worked especially hard for our community.  The meeting is free and open to the public.

Also, a special reception (6-6:50 pm) before the meeting will honor Wake elected officials including members of the Wake Legislative Delegation, Wake Board of Commissioners, and Wake School Board. This is a very special opportunity to meet and mingle with our local leaders and others who are passionate about the future of our community, and is hosted by the WakeUP Board of Directors.  Donation suggested.
