Landuse, Drinking Water, Education, and Transit improvement initiatives are underway in Wake County. Please consider attending public hearings and workshops in your community!

Landuse
June 22 & 23: New Development Code Transitions Workshops
RALEIGH: The City of Raleigh is drafting new development regulations and needs your help! Participants will engage in a series of activities to identify specific issues related to transitions between land uses-e.g, transitions berween commercial and residential issues..

June 24: Capital Blvd Corridor Study
RALEIGH: A brief presentation of the history of the corridor and a preliminary inventory of known issues will be given. Afterward, small group discussions will be held to gather public input on how best to transform Capital Boulevard into a vibrant mixed-use corridor.

Drinking Water
June 30 & July 1: Falls Lake Public Hearings
DURHAM CO/WAKE CO: The State Division of Water Quality is currently developing plans to clean up Falls Lake and needs your input! Stricter rules are under consideration to limit future development in the watershed and require existing development to conform to a more rigorous hydrological standard.

Transit
June 28 - July 15: Regional Transit Public Meetings
TRIANGLE-WIDE: The Triangle Regional Transit Program plans to define what our regional transit system will look like. An Alternatives Analysis team expects to receive public input on our region's transit vision, future system implementation, and ways to use the new system.  Please attend a meeting in your community.

July 26: Southeast High Speed Rail Public Hearing RALEIGH
RALEIGH: Construction plans for Southeast High Speed Rail Corridor are underway. Learn more about the project and provide input! "The SEHSR project proposes to implement approximately 162 miles of high speed rail as part of an overall plan to extend high speed passenger rail service from the Northeast Corridor (Boston to Washington, DC) southward through Virginia to Charlotte, NC."
Education
June 17: Great Schools in Wake Neighborhood Forum
HOLLY SPRINGS: Wake County Public Schools are changing. State Representative, Rosa Gill and former Assistant Superintendent of WCPSS Growth and Planning, Chuck Delaney will help explain challenges facing our changing school system.

June 22:Great Schools in Wake Film Series
CARY: 'Blood Done Sign My Name' - This film recalls the true story of a racially motivated murder in the summer of 1970. Duke University professor and Oxford native Tim Tyson, author of the acclaimed autobiographical novel upon which the film was based, will lead a post film discussion.
