ITEM 1. TRIANGLE REGIONAL TRANSIT PROGRAM, JULY 14, 2010
The Triangle Regional Transit Program has been established to focus on highway, transit and transportation management alternatives throughout the region. Public meetings have been scheduled throughout the Triangle during the months of June and July. One of six public meetings will be held on July 14, 2010 in the Knightdale Town Hall from 5:30 until 8 pm.
ITEM 2. RESURFACING OF POOLE/BUFFALO
In addition to construction along Poole Road and Buffalo Street as a part of Stimulus Project EL 5100-EB, DOT has begun preparation to resurface Poole Road from Raleigh’s Urban Service Area to Wendell Boulevard. Most notable to in-town motorists is the curb and gutter improvements taking place from Third Street to Wendell Boulevard. This area of Town will become very busy during the next few weeks as DOT and the Town work to coordinate both projects.
ITEM 3. ARRA PROJECT – # 5100-EB – BUFFALO AND THIRD STREETS
Construction has resumed along Buffalo/Poole Road and W. Third Street. The warm days are drying out the saturated soils following our recent rainfall. The project completion date is scheduled for August.
ITEM 4. KNIGHTDALE ETJ EXTENSION
The Town of Knightdale has proposed to extend its extraterritorial jurisdiction by approximately 3,583 acres of land that lies north, east and southeast of the town. In some areas the ETJ will extend east to 64 Bypass and Knightdale’s annexation boundary with the Town of Wendell.
The Wake County Planning Board's Land Use Committee is scheduled to discuss the Town of Knightdale's ETJ expansion request on June 23, 2010, at 11:30 a.m., in Room 704 of the Wake County Courthouse. ITEM 5. WENDELL WEEKEND SHOW – JUNE 4 – NOW ONLINE!
Wendell Weekend Show, hosted by Commissioner Adams is now online. Last Friday’s show highlighted the Wendell Historical Society’s silent auction, book signing by local author Kim Reynolds, and a wine tasting sponsored by Wit’s End.
The show then moves across Main Street to visit The Kila Company’s Evening of Jazz. You can join The Kila Company for a night of Jazz on the first Friday night of each month at 6:30 p.m. For more information you may visit The Kila Company online at http://thekilacompany.com.

ITEM 9. COMMITTEE NOTES
The following is an update of committee assignments, information and action:
Land Use and Economic Development Committee
UDO Ad Hoc Sub-Committee
Chapters 7-19 of the UDO will be presented to the Board on June 14.
The UDO will be considered by the Wendell Planning Board on Monday, June 21, 2010
The UDO Committee will reconvene on Thursday, June 24 at 7 p.m. in the Wendell Community Center. This meeting will be after the scheduled vote on the UDO by the Planning Board and before the public hearing at the Monday, June 28, 2010 Board of Commissioners meeting. The Board of Commissioners is encouraged to attend this meeting so the elected officials and UDO Committee members will have an opportunity to discuss comments and recommendations being forwarded from the Planning Board.
A public hearing on the UDO is scheduled for the June 28th Board of Commissioners meeting.
Law Enforcement and Recreation Committee
The next Law Enforcement and Recreation Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 14, 2010 at 5 p.m. in the conference room.
Downtown Group and Appearance Committee
The next meeting of the Downtown Group and Appearance Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 7 p.m. in Activity Room A of the Wendell Community Center.
ITEM 10. UPCOMING CHAMBER EVENTS
The Wendell Farmers Market continues to be open each Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. On June 12th the market will hold a special showing of old and antique farming equipment as well as having face painting.
Wendell t-shirts and hoodies are available from the chamber. T-shirts are $15 and hoodies (with zipper) are $30.
The Chamber will host a Notary Public class on Wednesday, June 23 from 9 a.m. until 4: 30 p.m. Call the Chamber at 365-6318 to register.
