Happy Easter!
ITEM 1. TOWN FACLITIES CLOSED ON FRIDAY, APRIL 2ND
Town facilities will be closed on Friday, April 2nd for the Good Friday holiday. Facilities will re-open on Monday, April 5th with regular business hours.
ITEM 2. ARRA PROJECTS
# 5100-EA – Crosswalks on Third Street and Main Street – The concrete on the crosswalk on Third Street cured this week. Brick pavers (at the wheelchair ramps) and striping were installed. Traffic on Third Street is scheduled to re-open tomorrow. Work on the crosswalk for Main Street should start next week.
# 5100-EB – Buffalo and Third Streets – Work on the storm drainage pipes and catch basins on Buffalo Street continued this week.
ITEM 3. CENSUS UPDATE
It has been reported that postal customers who receive their mail at a postal box are not receiving their Census forms. Apparently, street addresses were used to address Census forms. Please ask individuals with post office boxes to pick-up a Census form at one of the three 2010 Census Questionnaire Assistance Centers in town.
A 2010 Census Questionnaire Assistance Center is operating at the Wendell Community Center Monday – Friday from March 19th to April 19th from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. The Census staff will answer questions and help individuals fill-out their Census forms.
The Questionnaire Assistance Center at Wendell Library operates on the following schedule:
Monday 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Friday 12:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The Questionnaire Assistance Center at the Eastern Wake Senior Center operates on the following schedule:
Monday 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Thursday 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Friday 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
ITEM 4. COMMITTEE NOTES
The following is an update of committee assignments, information and action:
UDO Ad Hoc Sub-Committee
The East Wake Gang Forum will have a special community meeting on May 27th at 6:00 p.m. at Wake Chapel Baptist Church in Zebulon.
The next committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 26, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of Town Hall.

Easter holiday trash pick-up – the town received a notice from Waste Industries that they would be operating on a normal schedule next week, that there would not be any adjustments to the pick-up schedule due to the Easter holiday.
The Triangle J Council of Governments will hold a Regional Focus Group Discussion series as part of its 50th anniversary observation. The closest focus group to Wendell will be on Monday, April 19th at the Knightdale Town Hall. The meeting is scheduled to last from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The permanent bus shelter at the town’s Park-N-Ride lot was installed this week by Triangle Transit.
Rep. Darren Jackson has stated he will need to reschedule his town hall meeting previously scheduled for Tuesday, April 6th in Wendell due to a conflict. Once it is rescheduled, the new information will be shared.
Christopher Batts (from BSA Troop 515 of Wendell continues to work on his Eagle Scout project at the Carver fields. He is demolishing the old scorekeeper shelters and building new scorekeeper stands / shelters.
The Wendell Police Department will once again be playing in the East Wake Public Safety Softball Tournament. All proceeds will benefit the 200 Club of Wake County (
http://www.200clubwakecounty.org/). The games will be held in Wake Forest on April 10
th (with a rain date of April 17
th).
