The US Census underway will provide greater insight into growth and changing demographics in the Triangle region.  The whole nation is becoming increasingly diverse, as is NC.  Will the Raleigh-Cary metro region still be the fastest growing?  Census data will help us plan solutions for planning, like public transit options and stronger protections for water, housing options and funding for schools.  Click here to learn more about 'The Demographic Re-Mix of the 21st Century'.

Here's what's happening on growth issues right now -- we invite you to join WakeUP in these efforts!

New threat to the Falls Lake Watershed
WakeUP is monitoring a proposal allowing a large commercial development in the Falls Lake watershed.  Proposed development planning language would permit "non-conforming uses" to expand commercial development on site.  The Wake Board of Commissioners will vote on this April 5th.  Raleigh City Council unanimously opposed this proposal March 16th.

New Code comments due March 31st
Progress on Raleigh's New Development Code is moving forward swiftly.  The City needs your feedback on the New Code "Diagnostic and Approach Report" by Wednesday, March 31st.  Click here for the report and to comment online.  Overall, WakeUP believes the report recommendations would move the city towards good growth planning.
