ITEM 1. TOWN FACLITIES CLOSED ON FRIDAY, APRIL 2ND
Town facilities will be closed on Friday, April 2nd for the Good Friday holiday. Facilities will re-open on Monday, April 5th with regular business hours.
ITEM 2. CHAMBER PLANNING CONCERT SERIES AT J. ASHLEY WALL TOWN SQUARE
The Wendell Chamber of Commerce is planning a Spring Concert Series for J. Ashley Wall Town Square. The events scheduled are as follows:
- April 30th – 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. – The 3rd Stage (Traditional, Bluegrass and Folk)

May 21st – 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. – NC Revelers Orchestra (Big Band Swing- Jazz Orchestra) -
June 25th – Driven Praise Band
ITEM 3. ARRA PROJECTS

# 5100-EA – Crosswalks on Third Street and Main Street – The crosswalk on Third Street was poured this week. Brick pavers (at the wheelchair ramps) and striping will be installed next week. Once the concrete sets and traffic on the street is re-opened, the contractor will begin work on the crosswalk for Main Street. -
# 5100-EB – Buffalo and Third Streets – Storm drainage pipes and catch basins were installed on Third Street and Buffalo Street this week. Also, Progress Energy moved utility poles on Third Street. Other utilities need to be moved to the new poles before the old poles can be removed.
ITEM 4. UPDATE ON WEB SITE
Bill Hunter, of the Wilmington Design Company, reports that the town should be able to review the draft web site in 3-4 weeks.

Public Works, Facilities and Infrastructure Committee -
The next committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 22nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Wendell Courtroom.

Land Use and Economic Development Committee
UDO Ad Hoc Sub-Committee
- The UDO Ad Hoc Sub-Committee continues to meet on Mondays at 9:15 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Wendell Community Center.
Main Street Sub-Committee
-
The Main Street Sub-Committee met on Wednesday, March 24th at 7:00 p.m.
-
Fiscal and Human Resources Committee
-
The committee met on Thursday, March 18th to discuss preliminary budget requests by each department and other budgetary issues. -
A Budget Work Session is scheduled for Friday, April 9th at 9:00 a.m. at the Community Center.

Law Enforcement and Recreation Committee
-
The committee met on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. -
The East Wake Gang Forum will have a special community meeting on May 27th at 6:00 p.m. at Wake Chapel Baptist Church in Zebulon.

Ad Hoc Appearance Committee -
An Ad Hoc Appearance Committee was created on February 9, 2010 with Commissioner Gray as the Chair. Committee members were named at the March 22, 2010 Board of Commissioners meeting.

Ad Hoc Rental Housing Committee -
An Ad Hoc Rental Housing Committee was created on February 22, 2010 with Commissioner Adams as the Chair.
ITEM 6. MEETINGS THE MANAGER PLANS TO ATTEND NEXT WEEK
No noteworthy meetings are scheduled this coming week.
ITEM 7. OTHER

Rep. Darren Jackson has stated he will need to reschedule his town hall meeting previously scheduled for Tuesday, April 6th in Wendell due to a conflict. Once it is rescheduled, the new information will be shared. -
Christopher Batts (from BSA Troop 515 of Wendell) is working on an Eagle Scout project at the Carver fields. He is demolishing the old scorekeeper shelters and building new scorekeeper stands / shelters. -
A 2010 Census Questionnaire Assistance Center will operate at the Wendell Community Center Monday – Friday from March 19th to April 19th from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. The Census staff will answer questions and help individuals fill-out their Census forms. Questionnaire Assistance Centers are also planned for the Eastern Wake Senior Center and the Wendell Library. -
The Wendell Police Department will once again be playing in the East Wake Public Safety Softball Tournament. All proceeds will benefit the 200 Club of Wake County (http://www.200clubwakecounty.org/). The games will be held in Wake Forest on April 10th (with a rain date of April 17th).
