Today, the Great Schools in Wake Coalition, which is a special project of WakeUP Wake County, issued its first PRESS RELEASE, announcing the Coalition's formation!

The Coalition is a group of Wake organizations, parents, civic leaders and taxpayers who believe that every child in Wake County deserves an excellent education.  The Coalition wants the media and the public to know that its members are already speaking up, working for strong schools, researching policies, and examining new proposals of the Wake Board of Education!   Click here to read the full press release.

Given the Board of Education's (BOE) actions yesterday and in December on mandatory year round schools and diversity policies, it is clear our community needs to be vocal.  We must all speak up for the values of the Coalition, including educational excellence, stability, diversity, strong students and teachers, and equity.  Here is the News&Observer's front page news story on BOE actions.

You can be an important part of this effort, and the Great Schools in Wake Coalition will keep you informed of important school board related events and actions.  If you have not done so already, please click here to join the Coalition.  Note there is no membership fee.  Also, please forward this message to family or friends who may be interested in supporting the Coalition's efforts.

Sincerely,

Yevonne Brannon
Great Schools in Wake Coalition
