Re.: Kelley Connolly Honored as 2009 Town of Wendell Employee of the Year

Kelley Connolly has been awarded the 2009 Employee of the Year award for the Town of Wendell. She has been employed with the Town of Wendell Parks and Recreation Department since May 1996.

Employees are nominated by their co-workers for the award. At the Employee Appreciation and Awards Breakfast held by the town on January 13^th, Town Manager David Bone said, “What sets Kelley apart is her love for the town and her passion for serving this community and its citizens.” She has volunteered with several community organizations since she has been with the town, including the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the East Wake Soccer Association Board. She was instrumental with organizing the town’s Youth Volleyball Program, which will begin in February 2010.

As a member of the Chamber of Commerce Board, Kelley put in an enormous amount of time in organizing the Chamber Golf Tournament and serving on the Harvest Festival Committee. She is a very active member of the Wendell Methodist Church and active with the Doug Proctor Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament.

For the past two years, Kelley Connolly has served as the Girls Tennis coach at East Wake, and this year’s team showed much improvement over last year due to her dedication.

Parks and Recreation Director Brinkley Wagstaff said, “Kelley has been a great employee and ambassador for the Town of Wendell this past year. She has served in a lot of different capacities and has served in each capacity with a true desire to make the Town of Wendell a better place. I appreciate her efforts. She takes a lot of pressure off of me and makes my job easier.”

Ms. Connolly also earned the Employee of the Year award in 2003.
