The Neuse RIVERKEEPER® Film Festival will be in Durham and Raleigh this week! Join us this Friday at the Durham Arts Council or this Saturday at the Meymandi Theatre at the Murphey School.
The Durham screening, held at the Durham Arts Council, will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception, featuring a performance by Country Time bluegrass/oldtime duo. There will be three Raleigh screenings at the Meymandi Theatre at the Murphey School: a matinee at 1:30 p.m., an early evening wine and cheese reception and screening at 5:00 p.m. and a late evening wine and cheese reception and screening at 8:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $10 and tickets for children under 18 or students with a school ID are $5.
This January, Festival-goers may see the story of Martin Dreyer, South Africa's Multi-Sport King, who changed the lives of youth in the Dusi Valley by training them for a canoe challenge; explore the depths of the Atlantic Ocean with local videographer Art Howard; take a journey through the Lower Neuse River watershed and down the Los Angeles concrete river; or enjoy the adventure of two girls who decide to find a new home for goldfish. Other highlights include Oktapodi, an Academy Award-nominated animated film from France, and short documentaries created by middle school students in Raleigh.
