A series of trainings, designed to help everyday citizens improve the health and beauty of their communities, begins tonight at Middle Creek Park in Cary.
Every day local inspectors work to keep construction sites in good condition and prevent them from negatively impacting the surrounding areas, but they can't do it alone and they have asked for our help. Volunteering through Muddy Water Watch (MWW) is a no experience required-no confrontation required-truly helpful way of having citizens address the problems of sediment and pollution in their own neighborhoods.
These trainings are free; why not come find out how easy it is to make a difference in the beauty of your neighborhood and the health of our creeks and streams?
Please join us tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Middle Creek Park Community Center (123 Middle Creek Park Avenue, Apex) from
Bring a friend, bring a spouse, bring a neighbor; the more people we have on the ground with knowledge the more pollution we prevent from harming our streams and communities in the first place!
What to expect
These classes are designed to teach citizens how to identify problems on construction sites and who to call to help get the problems fixed. This is a program that takes a proactive approach to keeping the streets and waterways of North Carolina clean.
Over the course of two Wednesday evening classes (4/1 and 4/8) and one guided site-visit (choose from Sunday afternoon 4/5 or Monday afternoon 4/6) participants will learn about the different mechanisms used to slow or stop mud from leaving construction sites, who is in charge of making sure those mechanisms work, and what rights the average citizen has to help make sure the responsible parties live up to their part of the deal.
Who Should Attend
Should you decide to become an active MWW volunteer at the conclusion of the training sessions we ask that you become a member of the Neuse RIVERKEEPER® Foundation so that we can continue to provide you with the materials and support required to be an active and effective volunteer. Please call 919-856-1180 or visit www.neuseriver.org/muddywaterwatch.html for more information.
I hope to see you tonight!!
Cheers,
Alissa Bierma
