Neuse River Update

Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for the...

7th Annual Neuse River Clean-Up!
Saturday April 4, 2009
8:00am to 2:00pm (Rain or Shine)

The Neuse River Spring Clean Up covers 50 miles of the Neuse River between Falls Dam in North Raleigh to Smithfield Town Commons in Johnston County. This is a real community effort, involving youth groups, church groups, civic organizations, college students and river enthusiasts.

Totals from last year's clean-up:
• Weight in pounds: 9,260
• Number of Trash Bags: 378
• Number of Tires: 44

How to Participate? (Everyone is welcome!) CleanUpFish.jpg
Simply locate a convenient clean-up station listed below, mark your calendar with the date, and join us on Saturday, April 4.
• Each station has an on-sight Coordinator
• Gloves and trash bags will be provided
• Directions to clean-up stations are listed on the website:
www.neuseriver.org (Events)

Clean-up Station Locations
• Falls Dam (next to Paddle Creek)
• Buffaloe Road Canoe Launch
• Poole Road Canoe Launch
• Milburnie Dam Canoe Launch
• Highway 42, Clayton Elementary School
• Smithfield Town Commons

Large groups should coordinate the location with NRF. We do not want to have too many volunteers at one clean-up station and too few at another.

Helpful hints:
You should dress appropriately for the weather and prepare to get wet and dirty. You may want to bring sun screen, a hat, bug repellent and a snack. All volunteers must sign an insurance waiver. A parent or guardian must accompany volunteers under the age of 18.
