WakeUp Wake County Update

ACTION ALERT: HB 148-CONGESTION RELIEF/INTERMODAL TRANSPORT FUND was approved by the House Transportation Committee this week and was re-referred to the House Finance Committee. We expect the bill to be heard in House Finance in the next two weeks.

We need YOUR HELP to get this transit bill passed!

During this time, please contact members of the House Finance Committee.

Tell them that WakeUP Wake County supports HB 148. Ask them to please vote YES on this bill. While our focus will naturally be on the Wake County delegation, I believe all the Chairs and Vice Chairs can be contacted by all NC residents. And, if you have a relationship with any other Member of the Committee, please contact them as well.

HB 148/SB 151-CONGESTION RELIEF/INTERMODAL TRANSPORT FUND-AN ACT to establish a Congestion Relief and Intermodal Transportation 21st Century Fund, to provide for allocation of those funds to: (1) local governments and transportation authorities for public transportation purposes, (2) short-line railroads, for assistance in maintaining and expanding freight service statewide, (3) railroads for intermodal facilities, multimodal facilities, and inland ports, (4) make capital improvements on rail lines to allow improved freight service to the ports and military installations, (5) expand intercity passenger rail service, to extend levels of local transit funding authorization to three urban regions, and allow other local governments options for local transit funding.

March 19 Public Hearing on Raleigh Comprehensive Development Plan

Concerned about how Raleigh will continue to grow in the coming two decades? Raleigh's planning staff has developed a plan for growth, and hundreds of citizens have commented on the plan. Now the Raleigh City Council will review the plan, and they would like your input! Come to a public hearing at Raleigh city hall (222 W. Hargett St.) on Thursday, March 19 at 6:30 pm.
