WakeUp Wake County Update

Too much traffic for you? When the county's population doubles in the next two decades, our major roadways will be at or beyond capacity, so says our Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. WakeUP believes we must have a bold, regional transit system to reduce the vehicles on our roads and to ensure the economic and environmental well-being for our community. WakeUP's board of directors passed a resolution on transit in January. To read it, go to WakeUP's website.

Fortunately, many Wake leaders are developing a 10 year and 25 year plan for transit in Wake County. Also, legislation to make a transit plan possible will be introduced in the NC General Assembly soon.

WakeUP has launched a TRANSIT ADVOCACY PLAN to support a regional transit plan and transit legislation. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Can you donate $25 today to help WakeUP represent YOUR support for transit in Wake County? WakeUP is communicating with key local and state decision-makers, monitoring meetings, reviewing plans, and we need $5000 to support this action campaign! Click here to donate to WakeUP's transit action campaign. THANK YOU for your support! We can't do it without you!

Want regional transit? Sign TRANSIT PETITION NOW!

Have you signed the Capital Area Friends of Transit statement supporting regional transit for the Triangle? Join almost a thousand other citizens in calling for regional transit! Click here to sign petition for regional transit. Local draft plans of the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization are calling for the Triangle to be connected with expanded bus service, light rail and connectors.

The Capital Area Friends of Transit (CAFT) is an alliance of 35 organizations, 90 civic leaders and hundreds of citizens who want our mayors, county commissioners and state legislators to approve a regional transit plan and funding to help pay for it. WakeUP Wake County is leading this important citizen coalition!
