Highway Patrol, Wake County Sheriff’s Office, Zebulon Police Department, Rolesville Police Department, Garner Police Department, the Fuquay Varina Police Department, NC ALE and the NC Department of Corrections Community CorrectionsDivision, will be conducting a sobriety check on the night of 3-15-08. Nationwide last year on St. Patrick’s Day, nearly half (44%) of the 105 drivers and motorcyclists involved in the fatal crashes had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08 or above.That’s why the Wendell Police Department announced their joint efforts with federal, state and local highway safety and law enforcement officials across the nation to remind all those who plan on celebrating during the St. Patrick’s Day festivities to drink responsibly.“Whether you are meeting a few friends at a local establishment or attending a party elsewhere, if you plan on using alcohol, never drive while impaired—and never let your friends drive if you think they are impaired.” “Friends Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk.” said Wendell Police Chief J.A.
